The women of the Bagatti Valsecchi House

The women of the Bagatti Valsecchi House

A guided tour dedicated to two women who lived in Casa Bagatti Valsecchi in different eras and influenced its identity: Carolina Angiolini, mother of brothers Fausto and Giuseppe, and Carolina Borromeo, wife of Giuseppe. The tour compares their roles and choices. On the one hand, Carolina Angiolini, who in the first half of the 19th century arranged for the residence to be furnished in the Lombard Baroque style, which was very popular in Milan at the time. On the other hand, Carolina Borromeo, a member of the Milanese aristocracy, who supported Giuseppe in the life of the house and in defining the shared spaces, between private and representative dimensions.
