Depero and ENIT

Art and image of Italy in the world

Depero and ENIT

A guided tour of the exhibition dedicated to the relationship between Fortunato Depero and ENIT, the National Agency for Tourism Industries, established in 1919 by the government headed by Francesco Saverio Nitti to promote Italy's image around the world. The tour focuses on a core group of works that document Depero's role in the construction of a modern visual communication with a strong identity. Through the analysis of sketches and projects created in the late 1930s for the agency's foreign offices, including Buxus panels dating from 1939 to 1940, the tour offers an interpretation of the dialogue between art, graphics, and propaganda, recreating the historical and cultural context in which these works took shape.
