CONFERENCE MITO SettembreMusica Helmut Lachenmann and Wolfgang Rihm Thursday, September 16, Grand Salon 3 P.M. (in Italian)
Presentation (in Italian) of the book Lachenmann e Rihm: conversazioni e riflessioni curated by Enzo Restagno, Universal Music MGB Publications. Each year the MITO SettembreMusica Festival looks in-depth at the production of important contemporary composers. Helmut Lachenmann and Wolfgang Rihm are the two faces of the double portrait monograph of this edition, an expression of contemporary German music. They are separated by an age difference that is almost as big as a generation gap: Lachenmann was born in 1935, while Rihm was born in 1952. For some years, the latter was considered one of the most important exponents of the counter-movement, defined a bit superficially as ?Neo-Romanticism?; Lachenmann was and has remained the most radical expression of a critical spirit that, even before poetics, looks to the very instruments of the language of sound. As part of the series of editions published by MITO, the Festival presents the book, collecting a vast anthology of Lachenmann?s and Rihm?s main writings, at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum. Free entrance, while seating lasts. [For further information]
